What to Buy Trending Products & Deals Yes, It Really Is Possible to Get the 157-Piece Le Creuset Set From Costco We finally spotted the internet-breaking set in the wild. By Daniel Modlin Daniel Modlin Daniel Modlin was a former senior editor of News & Deals for the Food & Drink Group on the commerce team. He covered food trends, cooking techniques, recipe roundups, gift guides, kitchen retailer sales, and product reviews. His work has recently appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Architectural Digest, Travel + Leisure, and New York Magazine. Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Updated on January 4, 2024 Photo: Mandel Ngan / AFP via Getty Images In October, news broke that Costco was selling something special — a 157-piece Le Creuset kitchen set for a whopping $4,499.99. However, since Costco’s site was (and still is) 404ing the deal, and with rumors swirling that it arrived on a palette you got to keep, we began to wonder if it really existed. It turns out that it does. It really, really does. On December 23, Valerie Cervantes from Ames, Iowa, announced in a now viral TikTok that she won Christmas by receiving the elusive set, which it’s worth noting, is the only one we’ve actually seen in someone’s home. Cervantes told Food & Wine that her husband ordered it from Costco online (regular Costco, not even Costco Business), and hid it in their fitness room until Christmas morning, palette and all. It doesn’t look like he wrapped it, but then again, did he really need to? Cervantes says one of her 2024 goals is to use every single piece in the set (which, I would love to watch), and that right now she’s currently eyeing the crepe pan as her starting point. While the set is still unavailable to order unless you have some sort of magic like Cervantes’ husband, you can still buy some of our favorite individual pieces from the brand. Our Favorite Le Creuset Pieces 7.25-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven, $390 (originally $460) Classic Cast Iron Skillet, $100 (originally $120) Stoneware Rectangular Dish with Platter Lid, $100 (originally $125) 3.75-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Cassadou, $220 (originally $315) Utensil Crock, $55 Set of 4 Pasta Bowls, $72 French Press, $85 7.25-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven Amazon $460 $390 at Amazon Of course, Le Creuset’s signature piece, which just so happens to be included in the 157-piece set, is its Dutch oven. Good news for you, you can still grab a 7.25-quart one on sale, and in the color of your choice. We think that this is the best Dutch oven, and love it even more with a discount. Classic Cast Iron Skillet Amazon $120 $100 at Amazon I’m actually not sure if this was even included in the set, but it should’ve been. The brand’s enameled cast iron skillet is essential, and the perfect pairing for a Dutch oven you already have or one you’re picking up. With a 9-inch diameter, it’s an excellent size for searing steak or whipping up eggs in the morning. Stoneware Rectangular Dish with Platter Lid Amazon $125 $100 at Amazon You can’t have all 157 pieces, but you can have two of them for just $100. This stoneware dish is perfect for the approaching holidays, and it has the added bonus of having a lid that doubles as a serving platter. I mean, what’s not to love here? 3.75-Quart Enameled Cast Iron Cassadou Amazon $315 $220 at Amazon Say you don’t want to go all in on a Dutch oven, that’s totally fair. What about grabbing this cassadou from the brand? Think of it as a saucepan that has an enameled cast iron coating. I personally would love to make some moules frites in this hearty 3.75-quart vessel. Utensil Crock Amazon $55 at Amazon Every kitchen needs a solid utensil crock, and right now you can grab this Le Creuset pick for just $39. It doesn't come with all of the Le Creuset cooking tools you might’ve gotten from Costco’s offering, but did you really need those anyway? I say no, you just needed the utensil crock. Set of 4 Pasta Bowls Amazon $72 at Amazon I recently added these pasta bowls to my home and I can’t stop talking about them. They are shallow but have a rim so sauce doesn’t slide off and onto the carpet, making them essentially foolproof plates (I’m the fool). I’ve actively tried to scratch them with a knife and fork and zip, zero, nada. See, I told you they were foolproof. French Press Amazon $85 at Amazon In my opinion, the only piece that can even contend with Le Creuset’s Dutch oven is its French press. Made of stoneware, this is a durable vessel you’ll brew coffee in for years to come. Your kids might even use it to make French press brews, and their kids, too. Seriously, it’s just that good, and just that durable. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
