Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Published on November 24, 2024 Photo: Food & Wine / Amazon When I’m holiday entertaining, I need ice on-the-ready. My refrigerator’s ice maker can’t keep up when my guest list is long. So, in lieu of resorting to pre-bought bags of ice, I started searching the web for something better. That’s when I came across this countertop ice maker at Walmart, which makes a tray of ice in as little as five minutes and sits neatly on a bartop, within easy reach. Now, normally, my frugal self would never splurge for a small appliance with an original price tag of $300, but the fact that it’s marked down to $100 means I’m totally sold. If you’re tired of crushing up bags of ice for signature holiday cocktails, jump on this countertop ice maker deal before it’s over. Fohere 30-Pound Countertop Ice Maker Walmart $300 $100 at Walmart Fohere’s countertop ice maker is a kitchen powerhouse. It creates a tray of nine ice cubes in five to eight minutes flat, which is up to 30 pounds a day. Simply add water, choose from two different sized cubes, press the power button, and the machine's powerful compressor is off and running. Equipped with an infrared sensor, this ice compressor tells you when to add water and empty the ice bin. It also features a self-cleaning function that prevents limescale and odor. And the foam-insulated receptacle keeps ice from sticking together for easier grabbing. This unit measures 12 by 8.5 by 11.8 inches, so it won’t take up too much space, but it still has the capacity to make the amount of ice you need. It features a water reuse system that allows the water from the melted ice to be recycled and turned into ice again, saving resources. And, it boasts a low noise level too, according to the brand. Reviewers have compared this model to other nugget ice makers that cost twice as much, and say the ice stays frozen longer and doesn’t make soda go flat, even hours later. Others confirm that it makes ice fast and that they love its compact design, noting that it fits in small spaces – including tiny homes. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty excited to score this ice machine at a third of the price. If it works as well as shoppers claim, I’ll have ice on hand at all times. Plus, it will be a huge help at my next holiday gathering. That alone is worth the money spent.
