News Restaurant News Fast Food Domino's Is Partnering With Netflix for More Emergency Pizzas Just in Time for 'Squid Game' Just this once, it actually pays to lose. By Stacey Leasca Published on December 3, 2024 Close Photo: Courtesy of Domino's / Netflix Let's be honest. None of us would likely make it through Squid Game in real life. But, if we had to, now we know we could at least have a little help from Domino's Pizza. On Tuesday, the pizza chain announced it's teaming up with Netflix to give Emergency Pizzas to players taking part in Squid Game: The Experience. "Those who watch Netflix's Squid Game know that losing is the ultimate emergency, but Domino's is here to turn that around," Kate Trumbull, the chief marketing officer at Domino's, shared in a statement provided to Food & Wine. "We're making lemonade out of lemons for players by solving their heart-pounding predicament with free pizza for a year, so they can have Domino's whenever their next emergency happens." If you haven't heard about "Squid Game: The Experience," Domino's noted that there's no real danger to your life (unlike the show). Instead, it's a "fully immersive experience" at Manhattan Mall in New York City, allowing players to compete in five challenges. This year, a member of the Pink Guard will give the losing player out of each group a ticket for free Emergency Pizza for a year, given in the form of $500 in gift cards. And perhaps coolest of all, they are presented in a custom Domino's and Squid Game Dalgona tin, which really makes losing feel like winning. Stressed Out? Domino's Will Give You a Free 'Emergency Pizza' "We're excited to partner with Domino's again as they continually push creative boundaries. Their Emergency Pizza campaign was the perfect fit for Squid Game because if anyone understands an emergency, it's the players in the game itself," Magno Herran, the vice president of partner and brand marketing at Netflix, added in the statement. "We're excited to extend the campaign across the Squid Game universe at The Experience in New York City, where fans can enjoy Emergency Pizza, just like the players." For the initiative, a member of the Pink Guard will give the losing player out of each group a ticket for free Emergency Pizza for a year, given in the form of $500 in gift cards. Courtesy of Domino's / Netflix This isn't the only Emergency Pizza partnership Domino's has dropped in recent weeks. In October, it also announced its partnerships with the nailcare company Olive & June, Amazon, and Twitch. “We’re excited to launch a series of new, unexpected brand partnerships that consumers can have fun with," Trumbull said at the time. "Domino’s has partnered with Amazon and Twitch, as well as Olive & June, to bring Emergency Pizza to life in two completely different yet very entertaining ways." But you don't need to play Squid Game or even do your nails to get your own emergency pizza. As Domino's previously explained, all you need to do to receive one is place a delivery order online or a digital carryout order of $7.99 or more. After the order is confirmed, customers will automatically receive a Domino’s Emergency Pizza under “My Deals & Rewards” in their Domino’s Rewards account. (So, if you're not a Domino’s Rewards member, you wil have to sign up at dominos.com/rewards.) Then, just wait for an emergency — be it a burned dinner, a late-night outing, or a sinister agency recruiting you to take part in the most dangerous game show of all time — to redeem it.
