We’re not even halfway through September, but it’s apparently not too early to start thinking about the holidays. Some big box retailers have started stacking their Christmas and Hanukkah decor in the aisles beside the Halloween candy, and other seasonal releases are quietly hitting shelves too. One early seasonal arrival is the latest collaboration between Dolly Parton and Duncan Hines — but let’s be honest, we’re always excited to see ANYTHING involving that particular icon. (We mean Dolly, but you’re alright too, Duncan.)

The ninth release in Duncan Hines’ partnership with the singer is a new Dolly Parton x Duncan Hines Sugar Cookie Kit. Each kit includes cookie mix, festive green frosting, holiday sprinkles (including very cute snowflake-shaped sprinkles), a keepsake booklet, and a barcode for a holiday video message from Dolly herself. The back of the box also features a recipe for Dolly’s favorite Cinnamon Swirl Cookies. If she can’t actually attend your holiday celebrations, serving up a plate of her go-to cookies is probably the next best thing.

“We are thrilled to build on the great success of the Duncan Hines and Dolly Parton partnership with our New Limited Edition Holiday Sugar Kit,” Josh Hudson, the senior brand manager for Duncan Hines, said. “Like all of us, Dolly loves the holidays, especially when it comes to baking with her family and friends, and so this felt like such an authentic way to bring her favorite cookie recipes and decorating tips to families across America.”

The new cookie kit will start appearing on supermarket shelves in the weeks leading up to the holiday season. Each kit has a suggested retail price of $6.98.

Dolly’s first collaboration with Duncan Hines was released in the spring of 2022, and the first co-branded products were two boxed mixes for her Southern Style Coconut Cake and Southern Style Banana Cake, along with Creamy Buttercream and Creamy Chocolate frostings.

"I have always loved to cook and, growing up in the South, I especially love that authentic Mom and Pop kind of cooking," Parton said at the time. "I am excited to launch my own line of cake mixes and frostings with Duncan Hines, bringing that sweet, Southern-style baking experience I enjoy to others."

In the months since, those two big names have expanded the line to include Caramel Turtle Brownie and Fabulously Fudgy Brownie mixes, a Buttermilk Biscuit Mix, and Sweet Cornbread and Muffin Mix.

Anything that makes us feel even slightly closer to Dolly Parton is cool with us — even if that means starting the holiday season in mid-September.
