Food & Wine's Editorial Guidelines Published on December 27, 2023 Photo: Food & Wine / Amazon Based in France, Staub makes some of the most prized cookware in the world, with over 20 people seeing each ceramic cocotte (Dutch oven) through production. There’s a reason Staub holds the title of our overall best Dutch oven, while other pieces rank among the best enameled cast iron skillets and casserole dishes we’ve tested. It’s heirloom cookware, lasting generations with proper care. While an investment at full price, the cookware goes on sale on occasion — and now is one of those (exciting) times. Staub’s Amazon storefront has dropped prices to some of the lowest we’ve seen in a long time for its end-of-the-year sale. These are Staub’s current best deals on Dutch ovens, braisers, frying pans, baking dishes, and more. No, it’s not inexpensive, but you’re getting the quality you’re paying for. And the current promotion of 25% off the 4-quart white version makes it an even better value for the quality. The size is perfect for small batches of soup, side dishes, and breads. Staub 5-Quart Tall Cocotte Amazon $370 $150 at Amazon As a shopping editor, I often check the prices of each color a product comes in to see if there’s a difference, and with this Dutch oven, I’m glad I did. Only the cherry color of Staub’s 5-quart tall cocotte is marked down to $150, which is 59% off the suggested price on Staub’s website. The diameter is the same as the 4-quart round cocotte’s, but you’ll notice the size difference in the height. Aside from a bit of extra splash protection, it’s great for bone-in cuts, boiling pasta, and steaming mussels. Staub 2.75-Quart Round Cocotte Amazon $280 $167 at Amazon This deal is selling fast, but if it’s still available as you’re shopping, go for it! One of Staub’s smallest cocottes, the 2.75-quart version fits dinner for two, from stews to braises. The 29% discount just applies to the dark blue color, which would look beautiful displayed on the stove or counter at all times. Staub Ceramic 4-Piece Baking Dish and Bowl Set Amazon $130 $70 at Amazon When we tested casserole dishes, Staub took the title of Best Value. Its smooth ceramic design prevented food from sticking and made cleanup ridiculously easy, and others just couldn’t compete with the piece’s quality for the price. Well, we’ve finally found a contender. Right now, you’re getting two of Staub’s ceramic baking dishes and two matching bowls for just $70, in your choice of classic Staub colors: white, dark blue, or cherry. Staub Cast Iron 10-Inch Fry Pan Amazon $190 $100 at Amazon Testing Staub skillets, we’ve noted a few points about its enameled cast iron: It gets very hot, it heats evenly, and it releases food easily. These are key qualities to look for in a frying pan, so I was excited to stumble on Staub’s 10-inch cast iron fry pan on sale for 59% off. I also love that it has spouts on two sides for draining fat. Staub 12-Inch Braiser with Glass Lid Amazon $270 $180 at Amazon While braising can be done in a large Dutch oven, Staub designed this pan specifically for this technique with a wide base, sloped sides, and 3-inch height. The braiser is also less of an investment than, say, the 7-quart Dutch oven you’d need to accommodate large cuts of meat — especially now that it’s $90 off. Its heavy glass lid lets you keep track of the progress, while keeping the cooking liquid from escaping. Staub Pumpkin 3.5-Quart Cocotte Amazon $230 $200 at Amazon If you’re like me and covet this ceramic pumpkin cocotte every time fall rolls around, you’ll want to do yourself a favor and grab it while it’s on sale for $200. If you’re not familiar with it, you may be surprised that it’s a fully functional Dutch oven. It has a wide, flat base for sautéeing, it’s oven safe, and its sloped sides make serving easy. Of course, you’ll want to serve right out of the dish. Staub 4.5-Quart Perfect Pan Amazon $330 $250 at Amazon The perfect pan doesn’t exi— never mind! Staub named this pan because it can sauté, sear, fry, brown, and steam food. Designed like a wok, it has high sides with a gentle curve, containing splashes, while an included metal wok rack lets food hover just above the heat to stay warm without overcooking. I love the glass lid for monitoring progress. Grab it for $80 off the retail price. Staub Round Snail Dish Amazon $70 $49 at Amazon I’m eyeing this escargot dish, and I could see myself using it to serve more than snails. With six slots each, a few of these dishes would be perfect for holding bite-sized appetizers or sweets at parties. Made of enameled cast iron, it doesn’t need seasoning and it resists sticking. It can go in the oven or on the grill, and in the dishwasher after. It’s only $49 right now. Staub Cast Iron 5-Quart Bouillabaisse Pot Amazon $340 $200 at Amazon While Staub designed this beautiful dark blue pot for bouillabaisse and seafood dishes (note the fish knob), it isn’t too different from a Dutch oven. Its bottom measures just over 9 inches — it’s large enough to brown chicken thighs or tenderloin medallions — and its 5-quart capacity can accommodate soups, cobblers, and potatoes au gratin. For 40% off, this pot is an easy win. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback! Tell us why!
